Triumph recently kicked off the BS6 iteration of their amazingly gorgeous bobber in the country, called umm, the Triumph Bonneville Bobber 2021. At Rs 11.75 lakh (ex-showroom India), the BS6 Bobber costs a lakh and a half rupees more than the BS4 version. Its new, bigger front tire, slightly larger fuel tank, and cleaner engine compensate to some extent. If you are still not convinced, here are some alternatives:

Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster – Price: Rs 11.75 lakh

At Rs 11.75 lakh, the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster costs exactly as much as the Bobber. More importantly, it’s based on the Bobber itself, but with the addition of a passenger seat, which makes it much more convenient. This, together with the accessory padded backrest and windshield, should make long distances a cinch. The bike is as powerful and as torquey as the Bobber (78 hp and 106 Nm), so it won’t leave you wanting to do more on the highway.

Thanks to the additional passenger seat and subframe, the bike is slightly heavy, at 263 kg (12 kg more than the Bobber). That said, the seat is still fairly accessible, at 705mm, even though it’s 5-15mm taller than the Bobber’s. Overall, if you want the look of the Bobber but in a more practical package, the Speedmaster is the perfect option for you.

Triumph Street Triple RS – Price: Rs 11.35 lakh

The Triumph Street Triple RS is by far the craziest motorcycle in its segment. Its Moto2-derived 765cc triple engine produces a healthy 123PS and 79Nm. All that power is put on the road via a host of electronics, including switchable traction control, five drive modes and ABS. The bike is also packed with features, such as a full LED lighting system, a TFT instrument cluster with optional smartphone connectivity and a standard two-way quickshifter (6-speed) with assisted clutch and traction control.

In addition, the bike also benefits from the advanced foundations of Showa, Ohlins and Brembo. If you are looking for a performance machine in the bare middleweight segment, the Triumph Street Triple RS is pretty much the benchmark. However, at Rs 11.35 lakh, it’s a bit too expensive for what it turns out to be: a sub-liter nude. That said, it will definitely make you smile from ear to ear every time you swing your leg over this beauty.

Harley-Davidson Forty Eight – Price: Rs 11.75 lakh

The Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight retails for the same price as the Triumph Bonneville Bobber, making it the perfect American alternative. However, it’s a bit too old school thanks to the 1200cc air-cooled Evolution V-twin engine. The engine produces a commendable torque of 96 Nm at just 3,500 rpm!

But unlike the Bobber, this cruiser is as simple as it gets. Apart from the standard dual-channel ABS, there are no electronics, just a basic semi-digital instrument cluster and a halogen headlight. But don’t worry, Harley has a whole list of accessories to meet your needs. If you’re a fan of true American freedom, the Forty Eight is a great choice for cruising the freeways on the weekends.

Kawasaki Versys 1000 – Price: Rs 11.44 lakh

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is the only liter-class ADV on this list, which makes it perfect for adventure enthusiasts who aren’t afraid of rough roads and want a bike that can nibble on miles effortlessly. The liquid-cooled 1,043cc inline-four engine produces 120 hp and 102 Nm, enough to maintain triple-digit speeds effortlessly. It also has a massive 21-liter fuel tank, an inverted front fork with 150mm of travel, and a linked rear monoshock with 152mm of travel, both of which are adjustable for rebound and preload.

However, at 150mm the ground clearance isn’t that great for an ADV. It also rides on road-oriented rubber wrapped on 17-inch wheels at both ends, making it unsuitable for hardcore off-roading. And at 840mm, the seat is also quite high. This, together with the weight of 255 kg (curb), makes it suitable only for tall riders.

Ducati Scrambler 1100 Pro – Price: Rs 11.95 lakh

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 Pro is a sleek jammer that doesn’t shy away from light trails. It’s loaded right down to the sophisticated chainstay gills, including the fully adjustable Marzocchi fork, Kayaba rear monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound, dual 320mm discs up front with Brembo Monobloc M4.32 and L radial calipers. ‘ABS when cornering.

Its 85.6hp, 88Nm oil-cooled 1,079cc L-twin engine is mastered by three drive modes and a four-stage traction control system. If you fancy a sleek Italian motorcycle that can handle daily commutes, occasional highway trips, and a bit of off-road fun, then at Rs 11.95 lakh, the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Pro is hard to ignore.
