Fashion designer Christian Audigier’s estate includes a custom Bobber
If there’s one thing I love, it’s a custom bike built for someone with seemingly endless pockets – and today, in addition to finding the ultimate custom machine, we learn that the bobber is also auctioned to the highest bidder.
Our report today comes from GalvNewswhich covers the private collection of a high profile, haute couture French designer by the name of Christian Audigier.
Audigier has attracted a myriad of celebrities (Michael Jackson, Madonna and Britney Spears) in the name of promoting his Von Dutch and Ed Hardy fashion lines, with the designer’s successes only preceded by his unfortunate passing in 2015.
The report says Audigier’s private collection includes furniture, fashion, art and a singular custom bobber from the workshop of the one and only Yoshinobu “Yoshi” Kosaka.
“It used to be that Americans, especially bikers, wanted big bikes, but now people like tight shirts and jeans and want a cool, slim bike,” Kosaka says Japanese-style floats in a report on MotorcyclistOnline.
“It’s very popular with guys in their twenties, as is the caf-racer style. Young people want something personalized.
Yoshi has built bikes for many celebrities, including tattoo artist-turned-fashion icon Ed Hardy – the same one whose fashion line was licensed from the late Audigier.
“Christian selected each item with exceptional care and passion, and had an eye par excellence for fashion and design”, comments Vincent Audigier, nephew of the late designer on the auction site Abell.
“Nothing was random. Everything he owned was the best and represented his unique lifestyle. Christian loved being the life of the party and the center of attention, and celebrities wanted to be around him.
The auction website says the bobber will come with a second motorcycle bid, as well as “Custom painted motorcycle helmets, signed books and photos, and memorabilia.”
Expect to see bidding begin on May 12 and 13, with live bidding beginning at the Sole Proprietor Online Sale, which is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. PDT for each day the auction is open.
