Harley-Davidson Sportster S India launching next month

After launching Pan America 1250 earlier this year, Harley-Davidson is now gearing up to add another brand new product to its Indian lineup. The company plans to launch Sportster S next month during India Bike Week. This means that the price of the HD Sportster S in India will be announced between December 4-5 next month. In case you forgot, the Sportster S was unveiled globally in July this year and is based on the Custom 1250 which was shown in 2018 as a prototype. This means the bike is reaching our shores within months of its global debut and will serve to bolster consumer confidence in the brand that once nearly shut down operations in India. However, a strategic partnership with Hero MotoCorp gave Harley-Davidson a new lease on life in India.

Harley-Davidson Sportster S belongs to the HD Sportster range which includes vehicles like Iron 883 and Forty Eight. It’s powered by the Revolution Max 1252cc V-twin engine that also powers the Pan America 1250. But that engine has been detuned to produce 121hp and 127Nm of peak torque compared to 150hp and 122Nm on the first ADV from the company. . This means the Sportster S has less horsepower but more torque compared to the Pan America 1250, making it the second most powerful HD motorcycle. This Sportster is mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and assist.

Besides a powerful engine, the Sportster S is also equipped with impressive hardware such as an adjustable Showa inverted fork with adjustable piggyback monoshock. And unlike most Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the Sportster S comes with a plethora of features, including smartphone connectivity, cornering ABS, drag torque slip control, pressure monitoring system tires, the six-axis inertial measurement unit and four riding modes.
