The engine powering the Harley Davidson Sportster S uses the counterbalanced Revolution Max 1250 liquid-cooled V-twin engine architecture found in the Pan America 1250 adventure tourer. 60-degree V-shape sports different internals with smaller valves and ports as well as different combustion chamber and piston shapes.

The Sportster S engine was dubbed the Revolution Max 1250 T and produced 121 hp at 7,500 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear changes.

The Harley Davidson Sportster S offers three preset riding modes: Sport, Road and Rain. Owners can also use a fully customizable mode to achieve the characteristics that best suit their driving style. Cycling between different drive modes adjusts the throttle response, torque delivery and engine braking on offer. The riding modes also change the traction control and ABS configurations.

The engine of the Harley Davidson Sportster S is a stressed component of the chassis. Harley’s Sportster S features a 43mm inverted front fork up front and a mono shock in the rear. The Showa suspension setup includes adjustment for compression, rebound and spring preload.
