Harley-Davidson XL Sportster 1200 ‘Muscle R2’ by Cohn Racers

While it’s absolutely undeniable their immense popularity, Harley-Davidson cruisers tend to be somewhat lackluster when it comes to performance, with even the newer bikes from the Milwaukee brand looking quite long in the tooth compared to most. contemporary brands and models. Wanting to give MoCo’s two-wheeled merchandise the performance capabilities these iconic motorcycles deserve, Florida’s Cohn Racers chose to treat the latest Sportster with an uncompromising makeover that sees the Harley stripped down and rebuilt with a bevy of GP-worthy custom and aftermarket components.

Known as “Muscle R2”, Cohn’s latest attempt is a no-cost limited run built around an exclusive frame design. The high performance Harley has been treated to over 20 custom pre-impregnated carbon fiber parts such as the bike’s tank, side covers, oil bag, heel guards, chain guard and cover of the stator – all of which have been meticulously produced by the same person who makes carbon fiber parts for Koenigsegg and various F1 teams. The MR2 also features a host of custom-machined billet aluminum items, including the intake manifold, triple clamps, pulley tensioner and its five-piece adjustable swingarm design.

Now tuned to produce over 100bhp, the air-cooled, rubber-mounted Evolution 1.2-liter V-twin at the heart of the converted cruiser has also received a revised ECU, an all-new air intake system to downdraft, a set of one-off air intakes and a fully custom two-into-two titanium exhaust culminating in a pair of Akrapovič titanium mufflers. The Muscle R2 also rolls on 18-inch spoked wheels with titanium axles and features a host of track-ready GP-grade parts, such as an Ohlins FGRT fork and matching twin rear shocks, mounts and suspension. titanium hardware, plus calipers and a Brembo Performance master. cylinders paired with custom designed rotors and lines. The Sportster also got custom handlebars with internally routed cables, bar end LED indicators, custom backlit switchgear and a custom multi-function display that sits in a custom carbon fiber housing. which has been decorated via a 24K gold Cohn’s Racers badge which is cast, machined and polished by an artisan workshop in Geneva, Switzerland.

Cohn Racers will produce a total of 99 units of its Harley-Davidson XL Sportster 1200 based Muscle R2 series, each of which will be custom built to order and tuned specifically to fit the size, weight and style of behavior of each client. Pricing for the MR2 starts from $45,100.
