Mosaic Cycles launches the MT-2 titanium hardtail mountain bike

Boulder, Colorado Mosaic Cycles adds a new mountain bike to its quiver of handmade titanium and steel frames.

Although best known for producing road and gravel bikes, Mosaic has also long designed and manufactured hardtail mountain bikes. According to founder Aaron Barcheck, the MT-2 represents Mosaic putting a “stake in the ground” in the hardtail mountain bike industry.

“The geometry has been changed for what we think a bike like this should do now,” he said.

Living in the rocky, dizzying heights of the Netherlands, Barcheck should know that.

“I think 70% of my rides this year have been on a mountain bike,” he added.

The new titanium hardtail was designed with a 120mm suspension fork in mind and with ample clearance for 29×2.6″ tires. A size-specific straight-gauge titanium tube set welded into modern XC angles results in a light and strong frame that is both durable and comfortable.

And, with Mosaic’s new “Batch Built” program, customers can avoid the long wait often associated with hand-built bikes. Using Batch Built, Mosaic will provide customers with bikes with stock geometry in just two to four weeks, pending finishing work and configuration selection.

The program’s first offerings are the MT-2 hardtail and GT-2 45 Gravel Bike.

A limited number of MT-2 ATVs in Mosaic’s geographic stock are already built and ready to be finished to order. Customers can order these bikes via Mosaic dealerswhere they select options for a group of components.

They can also choose to upgrade the frame from a raw finish to a Mosaic paint layout to really personalize their bike.

Once ordered, bikes will be delivered in two to four weeks, depending on finish and build specifications.

GT-2 45 gravel bikes are also available through Batch Built. Offering a full range of sizes (48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58 and 60cm), several frames of each size currently hang on the wall ready for component specification and finishing.

As with the MT-2, the Mosaic Finishwork program is available as an upgrade. A GT-2 45 Batch Built will also be delivered in 2-4 weeks.

Mosaic’s custom build-to-order program will remain in full flight alongside the new Batch Built program. Delivery times for fully customized versions are approximately 10-12 weeks.
